Training

The Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties is pleased to announce that we are currently enrolling individuals for our volunteer training class.  No experience is necessary.

Via a comprehensive training supplemented with online programming, the Rape Crisis Center provides interested candidates with the necessary skills needed to assist the organization in meeting the needs of the people that we serve.

The RCC training provides numerous benefits to participants such as:

  • Adding volunteerism to a job resume

Your concern and dedication to survivor recovery, community education and outreach are a large part of our success in Medina and Summit Counties. In order to assist in any of the volunteer/intern opportunities, it is mandatory to complete the volunteer training. You cannot volunteer for the RCC prior to completing the established programming and signing a confidentiality agreement.

Trainings are conducted in both Summit and Medina Counties to meet the needs of potential volunteers and student interns.  Participants will learn essential information including the following:

  • History of Rape Crisis Movement.
  • Statistics
  • Definitions
  • Vicarious Trauma and Self Care
  • Cultural Competency
  • Working with Law Enforcement
  • Communication Skills
  • Legal Issues Pertinent to Sexual Assault
  • Hotline Procedures
  • Direct Advocacy Skills
  • Sexual Assault in Special Populations
