About Us

Mission

The Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties is committed to ending sexual assault through education and awareness, and to empower, support and advocate for all those affected by this crime.

OUR PHILOSOPHY: healing. hope. empowerment.

  • We offer confidential services to all our clients.
  • We believe in each individual's strength, creativity, and resolution.
  • We strive to empower individuals to feel free to make their own choices.
  • We will not advocate for any one, specific choice or method of dealing with sexual assault.
  • We are committed to cultural awareness and cultural competency in serving all clients.
  • We will help individuals explore all options by providing sound information.

Who We Help

The Rape Crisis Center of Medina and Summit Counties is a nonprofit organization serving sexual assault victims and co-survivors in Summit and Medina Counties in northeastern Ohio. We do not charge for any of our services. All survivors of rape and sexual assault, both male and female, are potential survivors regardless of race, religion, financial status, educational background or sexual preference. To honor survivors' confidentiality, the Rape Crisis Center collects demographic information anonymously.

RCC staff members have received specific training on diversity and underserved populations and are ready and able to respond to the needs of the diverse cultures found in our community. Males, seniors, non-English speakers and the mentally and physically disabled are survivors that often need the most intensive services.

However, when it comes to rape and sexual assault, the truly underserved populations are the vast number of survivors who never report the crime committed against them. To help these individuals, the Rape Crisis Center maintains an active and engaged Outreach Coordinator to educate the public and help remove the stigma associated with sexual assault. In addition, many victims seek medical attention but choose not to notify the police; we collaborate with local hospitals to ensure these survivors can still be reached by our services if they want them while keeping their anonymity.
